  • The oldest High Court was established in Calcutta in the year 1862.
  • The newest High Courts are established in State Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the year 2019.

  • The Chief Justice of a High Court is appointed by the President with the consultation of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Governor of the State.

  • The retirement age for the judges of the High Court is 62 as per the 15th amendment of the Constitution
